Abstract/Contents:Suggests maintenance practices for Poa annua putting greens in Australia. Explains that "Poa annua greens at their best provide the highest quality putting surfaces and this is due to the dense, tight sward that Poa annua produces." Discusses mowing, thatch control, fertilizer management, disease management, irrigation, cultivation and root maintenance, and seed head control. Presents the results of a Poa annua trial conducted in 2002 by the Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association "to investigate the effects of effluent water on creeping bentgrass and Poa annua." Reports that "this trial indicates that in a temperate, coastal environment, on a well drained sand profile creeping bentgrass and a particular cultivar of Poa annua can sustain high quality putting surfaces when irrigated with treated effluent high in total soluble salts and chloride."
