| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses possible advantages and disadvantages to using environmental management practices on golf courses. States that "for [an] EMP [environmental management plan] to be an investment it must at least document the club's environmental policy; include procedures for searching out environmental legislation and concerns; provision for risk assessment and the development of environmental goals; assignment of environmental roles and responsibilities; environmental training; environmental record keeping; and formal auditing and review; and corrective action processes." Also states that "to meet...environmental responsibilities environmental management must become a priority for all golf clubs." Concludes that "because environmental management involves a monetary cost it is defined as an expense. No-one thinks about the return. The cost to develop an EMP should pale in comparison to the cost of not having one in place...Environmental management is an investment." |
