Abstract/Contents: | Details the construction of The Hills golf course, stating that "late in summer 2002, Michael and Christine Hill made the decision to plan and build an eighteen hole golf course on their propperty on the outskirts of Arrowtown." States that "the course was designed by John Darby of Darby Partners in Queenstown...The initial philosophy was based around a private golf course with projected low rounds per year, small areas of high maintenance fine turf, and a small maintenance crew." Explains that "the greens have been constructed with a full sub grade drainage system, a 150mm [millimeter] layer of pea gravel and around 250mm of topsoil." Concludes that "all in all, the job has been very rewarding to see everything come together over time. There have been frustrations, but the experience has been great and the knowledge gained immeasurable." |
