| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were applied curatively to a bentgrass nursery maintained under putting green conditions. Soil was a sandy loam with a pH of 6.4 and O.M. 3.5%. Fungicides were applied 31 Jul with a CO2 pressurized sprayer at 38 psi in 2.5 gal/1000 sq ft. plots were 5 ft x 5 ft and were arranged as a randomized complete block with four replications. Percent plot area diseased was visually estimated on a 0-100% scale. Turf color was visually rated on a 0-5 scale where 0 = brown turf and 5 = dark grewen turf. Dollar spot and brown patch ratings exceeding 0.5 and 2.0% plot area diseased, respectively, would be considered unacceptable under golf course, putting green conditions. Both brown patch and dollar spot activity were judged severe on the day fungicides were applied, and 14 days later when plots were evaluated. On 14 Aug, Chipco 26019, Banner, BAY HWG 0519 had provided exceptional, curative control of both dollar spot and brown patch. NC 28410 and SN 84364 gave excellent brown patch control, but had no effect on dollar spot. Prochloraz significantly reduced the severity of both diseases, but the level of curative control was considered unacceptable. Banner, BAY HWG 0519 treated turf exhibited an improved, darker green color when compared to nearly all other treatments." |
