Abstract/Contents:"Fungicides were evaluated at the Oklahoma Turfgrass Research Center, Stillwater, Oklahoma, on a partially shaded area maintained under golf-green conditions at a cutting height of 0.1875 inch. Individual treatment plots were 20 in x 8 ft paired, untreated check. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 replicates. Fungicides were applied on 11 Jun with a CO2 powered boom sprayer operating at 40 psi and a 3 gal/1000 sq ft carrier rate. On 16 jun, a ft-wide strip perpendicular across all treatments was inoculated using P. aphanidermatum-infected rye grains. An Excelsior High-Velocity (wood-fiber mulch) Blanket was placed over the inoculum for 4 days to maintain a suitable microclimate. The blanket was kept moist with irrigation. On 22 June, a second 4 ft strip was inoculated and covered with the mulch blanket for 4 days. Disease development occurred in the two respective strips at 6 and 14 days after treatments (DAT). At 6 DAT, all treatments showed significant control of pythium blight, relative to the untreated check. S-1446, and experimental product containing the same active ingredient as Subdue but also containing triadimefon, produced significantly poorer disease control at 6 DAT than Subdue. At 14 DAT, however, the S-1446 produced better disease control then Subdue. Evidently the triadimefon imparted some degree of long term disease control to the combination product. Five of the 9 treatments showed significant disease control at 14 DAT. No phytotoxicity was observed."
