Abstract/Contents:Discusses construction of cricket practice facilities. Suggests that "for practice facilities, [field managers] must produce the game type of quality ptiches that [they] do for [their] match pitches!" Presents New Zealand Cricket Requirements, stating that "net facilities must be available for both teams when required for a minimum of two days prior to each match"; "there must be a pre-match throwdown area, a pre-match bowling area and a pre-match fielding are [area] available to both teams prior to each day of a match"; "where possible bowlers should be able to bowl on the block...prior to play"; and "by the 2005-06 seaons, all approved venues will be required to have net facilities available on match day." Describes player needs for a practice facility, stating that "they want and need high quality surfaces that are the same as the match surfaces [field managers] normally produce." Emphasizes that "it is very important when constructing a project, such as practice facilities, that a substantial amount of planning has been carried out in order for the project to flow like clockwork. Having people involved in the job that know exactly what they are doing is extremely critical."
