Abstract/Contents: | Suggests potential techniques for planing a bowling green. Lists possible reasons for planing, including "the green surface is uneven, too much variation, bowls track and do not hold there [their] line"; "too much build-up of thatch over the years, surface becomes spongy"; and "the green has too many species of cotula which have colonised [colonized] into large patches creating problems with the run and draw of the bowl." Suggests surveying the green "usually at 1.5m [meter] squares. This will establish the highs and lows on the green." Describes a potential planing procedure. |
