Abstract/Contents:Discusses a turf cutting project at Bowls Papanui No. [number] 2 green in Christchurch, New Zealand, "following complaints about high infestation of dioica throughout the green. Although the green was running true and had a good draw on both sides, the bowls slowed down very quickly when hitting the larger patches of dioica." Describes the cutting processes, stating that "the job took approximately four hours, including the use of club labour [labor]. Removing the dead turf took 15 men approximately five hours. [The turf manager] then nail-raked the green, in different directions, daily for two weeks. This provided a loose surface approximately 5mm [millimeters] in depth...The wires were then put across the green so [the crew] could drag the screed up and down, taking soil from the high areas and dropping it into the lower areas."
