Abstract/Contents: | Study evaluates rates of perennial ryegrass overseeded on dormant bermudagrass and how those rates effect competition of invasive annual bluegrass. Seeding rates of 10, 20, 30, and 40 lbs/1000 sq ft were sewn on October 28, 1985 to a Tifgreen and Tifdwarf bermudagrass green. After 3 days of watering 1/8 inch of masonry sand was topdressed over the plots. Approximately 2.5 months later ryegrass counts were taken for each seeding rate. Annual bluegrass plant counts were made on April 9, 1986. A higher winter overseeding plant population (higher seeding rate) resulted in lower incidence of annual bluegrass plants. |
