Abstract/Contents:Presents a study condcuted to "ascertain the effects of heavy fall nitrogen applications on bermudagrass." Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "urea was applied to Tifgreen and Vamont bermudagrass in September, 1986, to provide 0.75, 3.0, and 6.0 lb. [pounds] N [nitrogen] per 1000 sq. ft. [square feet]. Cytokinins and Fe [iron] were applied in factorial with the nitrogen treatments." Reports that "color retention during October was best with the higher nitrogen fertilization...Post-dormancy rooting of both Tifgreen and Vamont tended to be enhanced with iron...Results indicate that liberal nitrogen fertilization in September will enhance bermudagrass fall color, and with the addition of fall iron fertilization cold temperature injury should be minimized."
