Abstract/Contents: | Suggests that "the 70-day summer window is ideal for sports fields to actively grow and repair themselves." Presents a study conducted to "clarify the impact of best management practices in regards to mowing height and fertilization on re-establishment of sports field turf during a 70-day window." Details the study, stating that "germination blankets were placed over the top of the plot and removed 15 days after seeding in both [2002 and 2003]." Reports that "mowing height only detected differences at the end of the 70-day trial...for turfgrass cover percent...There were differences among fertilizers for every date regardless of traffic and non-traffic areas." Concludes that "The Cady Traffic Simulator (CTS) is a more aggresive machine compared to traditional wear machines to date." |
