Abstract/Contents:Presents the results of a survey of superintendents conducted to "find out about...unmowed rough areas [on golf courses]. Establishment and management activities and the problems superintendents encountered with these areas were of particular interest." Discusses unmowed grassy areas, weed control, fine fescues, and native grasses. Concludes that "Hachita blue grama plus Cody buffalograss is easy to seed and tolerant of applications of Plateau herbicide for pre- and post-emergence weed control; it can be burned or mowed, can provide adequate cover during warm-weather months and can offer playable lies when unmowed."
