Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to determine the possible effect cultural practices may have on anthracnose disease of annual bluegrass. Reports that "disease tended to decrease as irrigation quantity increased...Disease severity was the same regardless of whether irrigation was applied before or after mowing." Suggests that "light-weight rolling can be effectively used to increase ball roll distance...on putting green turf." Also reports that "routine sand topdressing can effectively reduce anthracnose severity...The combination of daily foot traffic and weekly sand topdressing resulted in the lowest disease severity and best turf quality." Notes that "adequate N [nitrogen] fertility to sustain moderate growth has been...reported to reduce anthracnose severity." |
