Abstract/Contents:Discusses bentgrass evaluation trials "established at the Rutgers Horticultural Research Farm II in North Brunswick, [New Jersey] in the fall of 2003." Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "two of the trials planted in the fall of 2003...included all entries of the 2003 National Bentgrass Test coordinated by the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP). Trials were established on a modified Nixon loam, except the 2003 NTEP putting green trial...which was seeded on a sand root zone built to USGA [United States Golf Association] specifications." Lists bentgrass species evaluated in the trial, including creeping bentgrass, colonial bentgrass, and velvet bentgrass. Presents the results of the study, highlighting turf quality evaluations, brown patch, copper spot, and anthracnose resistance; spring green-up; turf density; genetic color; wear tolerance; establishment; and percent cover.
