States that "the Turfgrass Information Center at Michigan State University has the largest collection of turfgrass articles, books and other materials in the world." Details the history of TIC, stating that it "was set up in 1984, using the funding and momentum from the U.S. [United States] Golfing Association to get started, but the impetus could be found much earlier." Notes that "in 2003, [Dr. James] Beard and his wife Harriet donated [Dr. Beard's personal] collection [of turfgrass literature], called by TGIF [The Turfgrass Information File] 'the finest personal compilation of turf-related material in existence,' to the center."
