Abstract/Contents: | Successful weed control programs for turf must consider the following: 1) identification of the weeds present, 2) timing of chemical treatments, 3) turfgrass tolerance to chemicals, and 4) proper chemical choice and application. Herbicide action and formulation types are discussed. Tables include herbicide treatments for seedbeds prior to planting, newly seeded turf, control of annual grass weeds in established turf, and control of broadleaf weeds in established turf. Identification aids for annual grasses, perennial weedy grasses, and broadleaf weeds are given with line drawings of the major lawn weeds. |
