| Abstract/Contents: | "Reports on evaluations of quackgrass (Agropyron repens) control study in 1985-86 resulting from a similar study in 1983 on quackgrass control in cultivated fields. In 1985, treatments of atrazine and cop oil concentrate (COC) (rate: 2 lb. + 1 qt.), tridiphane + cyanizine (0.51 lb. + 1 qt.) applied to 4 to 8 inch quackgrass and followup treatment was critical. Sequential treatment increased control 55.37 and 43% respectively over initial treatments. Results from three trials in no-till and conventional corn in 986 show that tridiphane + atrazine + COC (0.5 lb.+1.5lb.+ 1 qt.) 5 to 10 days later provided 90% quackgrass control and near complete control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. In no-till a glyphosate burndown followed by triphidane + atrazine + COC (0.5 lb. + 1.5 lb. + 1 qt.) increased quackgrass control to 100% while maintaining annual grass and broadleaf weed control. Tridiphane + cyanazine mixtures were not as effective. The date suggestes that tridiphane/Triazine herbicides possess significant activity on quackgrass. Combinations with greatest to least activity were tridiphane + atrazine + COC > tridiphane + atrazine + cyanazine > tridiphane + cyanazine." |
