Abstract/Contents:1996 proposal for research on nitrogen transformations in turfgrass soils. Lists objectives as: "1. To examine the pattern of NO³ leaching during the first three years of establishment of a USGA putting green. Based on our recent data, root architecture has a pronounced effect on NO³ leaching from bentgrass. Given the seasonal dynamics of a bentgrass root system in this transition zone, it is important to establish seasonal patterns for NO³ leaching. 2. To determine leaching model input values for a) N absorption by the turfgrass, b) N immobilization by soil microorganisms, and c) N mineralization rates." Details justification and a description of the research.
