Abstract/Contents:Discusses the possibility of "[manipulating] the competitive interaction between desirable grasses like fescue and bentgrass through the management regime imposed." States that "creeping bentgrasses require greater inputs in terms of fertiliser [fertilizer] requirements and management practices. There is...a move toward a greater use of red fescues on golf greens coupled with lower inputs." Describes trials conducted utilizing 12 different management styles, explaining the relationships between red fescue and browntop bentgrass; crested hair-grass and hard fescue; and perennial ryegrass and red fescue. Concludes that "under a more relaxed mowing and management regime, red fescue is able to compete better with browntop bentgrass."
