| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses overseeding, stating that "there are a number of different methods to overseed [a] sports field. Whether [one chooses] to use a seeder of simply hand spreading over bare spots." Explains that "overseeding during season can be a tremendous challenge...so, very often, overseeding during the season is abandoned." Suggests that "a key to the 'in-season' overseeding method is selecting the correct varieties that germinate very quickly and at colder temperatures." Presents true-turf type annual ryegrasses, stating that "a major advantage of the turf-type annual ryegrasses are that they germinate quicker than perennial ryegrass...and they germinate at lower temperatures." Discusses research that "has been undertaken to increase the germination and establishment rate of Kentucky bluegrass." |
