Abstract/Contents: | Profiles inorganic amendments, stating that "they are expensive, and not all situations justify the cost in comparison to sound, basic soil management and appropriate cultural practices." Mentions different potential uses for inorganics, including for putting green rootzone mixes, renovating or resurfacing greens, and to fill aeration holes. Concludes that "it is important for superintendents to carefully weigh the advantages of inorganic amendments as compared to traditional organic amendments. There are only a few scenarios where the inorganics have been shown to be advantageous vs. organics as part of a management program with aeration." |
