Abstract/Contents:"Dollar spot is an increasing problem on ultradwarf bermudagrass putting greens in the spring and fall, especially greens mowed at very low heights or fertilized very sparingly. Dollar spot infects bermudagrass in the fall, as the grass slows growth before winter dormancy, and is most severe the following spring. The disease is not a problem during the summer, while bermudagrass is growing at its maximum rate and the weather is to hot to be conducive for the growth of Sclerotinia homoeocarpa. In tests during 2002 and 2003, curative treatments with a variety of fungicides during the spring while a TifEagle bermudagrass putting green was emerging from dormancy resulted in healing of bermudagrass greens from dollar spot three to five weeks faster than untreated controls. Addition of slow-release nitrogen fertilizer enhanced the activity of fungicides and healing of the turfgrass. Iprodione, chlorothalonil and several DMI fungicides also provided some degree of control of dollar spot in the spring when applied as preventive treatments before the onset of symptoms the pervious fall, delaying the need for a curative treatment in the spring."
