Abstract/Contents:"Boscalid is a new broad-spectrum fungicide of the anilide class developed by BASF. Boscalid interferes with mitochondrial respiration and due to its mode of action and efficacy spectrum it has a very good fit for use in fruits, nuts, vines, vegetables and turfgrass. In addition to its fungicidal effects, boscalid was shown to influence physiological processes of plants not infected or challenged by pathogens. Following use of boscalid, yield and quality parameters of crops such as vegetables and fruits were found to be positively affected. Application of boscalid also was associated with a reduction of stressinduced release of ethylene and premature senescence. These observations are discussed in relation to the mode of action of boscalid."
