Abstract/Contents: | High rates of Phosphorus (40 kg/ha) increase basal respiration and may increase the gound cover of sites with low microfloral soil activity. Intensive fertilization of well covered temporary and permanent grasslands (100-200 kg N + P-K) does not lead to nitrate contamination of groundwater. A high P rate of 40 kg/ha helps lower NO3-nitrogen leaching. 100 kg/ha is the most suitable rate for avoiding nitrate contamination in groundwater. |
