| Answer/Response: | "The first course of action is to assess the golf course and ensure that the course is not overpopulated with trees. Not only would this reduce the number of hours spent string-trimming, but the trees and turf benefit as well. Next, try applying a plant growth regulator, such as Primo, around trees by using a backpack or handheld sprayer. Monthly applications will reduce turfgrass leaf elongation and will cut the number of hours needed for string-trimming by as much as half. Finally, to eliminate string-trimming altogether, Roundup can be sprayed in a ring around tree trunks (pictured). This does not harm the tree." |
