Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were evaluated on an established stand of Meyer zoysiagrass at the Manhattan Country Club in Manhattan, KS. The turf was mowed to a height of 0.5-in. and fertilized with 3 lb N (nitrogen)/1,000 ft2 during the season. The 28-day treatments were applied twice, on 17 Sep and 15 Oct. In addition, single application treatments of Bayleton 480SC, Heritage 50WG, and ProStar 70WG were staggered in time from 17 Sep to 15 Oct. Fungicides were applied with a CO2-powered boom sprayer with XR Tee Jet 8003VS nozzles at 30 psi in water equivalent to 2.0 gal/1,000 ft2. Plots were 5 ft x 8 ft and arranged in Fungicide evaluationa randomized complete block design with four replications. Plots were rated until turf became dormant and again starting at green-up in Apr 08 by visually estimating the percentage of each plot with large patch symptoms. Values were transformed to ln(x+1) to normalize data and stabilize variance prior to analysis by ANOVA (p=0.05, (Minitab 15 Statistical Software, State College, PA). Initial large patch symptoms appeared on 2 Oct. The turf was dormant by the end of Oct. In spring, the first greenup was visible on 21 Apr, and disease symptoms first appeared on 5 May. While numerical differences in disease levels were noted, none were statistically significant on any rating dates. No phytotoxic effects were observed, and there were no differences in green-up." |
