Abstract/Contents:Discusses bowling clubs in the areas of Southland and Otago in New Zealand, stating that "the high class standard of their greens is usually the work of one or two enthusiasts, who have acquired a sound practical knowledge of the desirable management practices. Their methods are not always orthodox." Highlights the Drummond Bowling Club, situated between Winton and Otautau in Southland, mentioning topdressing and insecticide use. Also briefly describes the Dunback Bowling Club, stating that its composition "is largely Cotula maniototo with some Cotula dioica and a litte starweed." Names the Nightcaps Bowling Club in Western Southland, the Milton Bowling Club in South Otago, and the Caledonian Bowling Club as clubs that improved their quality in the mid-1970s.
