Abstract/Contents: | Discusses green renovation and topdressing, stating that "renovation work to be done varies from one soil type to another and one green to another. Surface compaction, for instance, will vary from quite severe on a newish green to minimal on an old green with a large thickness of resilient turf mat." Emphasizes using the same material for topdressing as the material used to build the green. Suggests that "topdressing has three basic benefits. It introduces freshbacteria and nutrients to a fairly sterile medium and it smooths the surface...It [also] allows fresh seed to be sown and established." |
