Abstract/Contents:Maximizing the effectiveness of fungicides used in disease control programs depends on a thorough understanding of the diseases that can devleop on the turf as well as the factors which affect fungicide activity. Fungicides should represent only one of several methods used in disease management programs. While fungicides can be beneficial in controlling disease, they can also have non-target effects which may have adverse effects on the turf such as increasing thatch accumulation or diseases caused by non-target pathogens. High rates or repeated use of fungicides, such as fenarimol, can have growth regulator effects on turf and herbicidal effects on Poa annua.
