Abstract/Contents:Discusses the growth of Cotula bowling greens on new ground and on already-established, older grass greens, stating that "the method of establishment of a Cotula bowling surface will depend on...whether it can be spared from play for the main part of the following season or whether the club has only one green that cannot be spared." Highlights two potential ways to grow Cotula on old grass greens: "complete rapid replacement" and "conversion without losing use of the green." Suggests that "the best method of achieving the first is to use a well-set heavy rotary hoe to skim off the grass." Describes a procedure for the latter, focusing on pH [potential Hydrogen] level correction, watering, grooving, mowing, and phosphate application. Concludes that "the success of whatever method of establishment is used will depend on intelligent observation of how the operation is progressing."
