Abstract/Contents:Discusses an outbreak of fusarium-patch disease (Fusarium nivale) at the Hokowhitu Golf Course in New Zealand in 1979, stating that "the protectant fungicide Rovral was applied using a hand-gun sprayer. Citowett, a wetting agent, was added to the spray tank. [The] disease persisted in spite of repeated applications of Rovral." Suggests that the use of a hand-gun sprayer is inappropriate for Rovral, explaining that "the fungicide could be washed into the soil and become ineffective." Describes two methods to assess disease activity, including testing for the ability of Fusarium nivale spores to germinate and placing three diseased plugs in high-humidity conditions for two days to visually assess fungal growth.
