Abstract/Contents: | Discusses potentially successful means of preparing for major golf course tournaments. Focuses on the teeing ground, fairways, putting greens, rough, and bunkers, emphasizing the possible importance of preparing a course that "can be a firm test of a player's ability to reward a well-hit shot but penalize a bad one." Also considers practice areas, golf rules, out-of-bounds areas, water hazards, and obstructions, acknowledging that "some tournaments must have a number of temporary immovable obstructions, such as concession stands, scoreboards, [and] tents." |
