# of Pages:3
Abstract/Contents:Discusses general approaches to pest control. Emphasizes that "the most widely followed approach is to take each pest species in turn, outline the type of damage caused, the life history, the most advantageous time to effect control, and the alternative methods for doing so." Mentions a second approach, in which chemicals and alternative means of control are listed first, and then the species that can be treated by which are added. Suggests that "from the chemical point of view, the main factors which should be taken into account when reaching a decision" on which strategy to take include cost, soil type, speed of action required, type of damage, and rate.
