Abstract/Contents:Presents a study conducted at Grasslands Division Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Details the materials and methods used during the experiment, stating that "five treatments were applied, the total nitrogen being the same in each case but the percentage of it in the form of ammonium sulphate...[varying] 100, 67, 50, 33 and 17 respectively." Reports that differences in pH [potential Hydrogen]; dry matter yield; percentage of dry matter in clippings; thatch weight and thickness; incidence of weeds; and turf quality were recorded throughout the study. Concludes that the use of "ammonium sulphate in the cool season and urea in the warmer part of the year" is potentially the most effective practice.
