Abstract/Contents:Presents a study of Uniturf and rubber synthetic surfaces for cricket conducted at Massey University in New Zealand. Details materials and methods of the experiment, stating that "the equipment used consisted of a portable high pole from the top of which a cricket ball could be released to fall on any particular surfaces being evaluated." Reports that "it was noticeable, as the weather warmed up in the spring, that the rebound of the ball increased on the Uniturf with each of three measurement dates. The rubber surface was used on only one occasion and showed a consistently greater bounce than the Uniturf." Concludes that "for evenness of bounce rubber is the better, but the ball does bounce higher, and according to work in Britain, pitches are faster than Uniturf ones."
