Discusses the potential impacts of global warming upon drainage and lists the government's priorities regarding the sustainable management of water. Mentions that the restoration of groundwater to pre-development levels may necessitate a method of infiltration, suggesting soakaways as an option. Lists and describes several components of the "typical sustainable drainage scheme," including filter strips, swales, infiltration basins, wet ponds, extended detention basins, constructed wetlands, filter drains, infiltration devices, pervious surfaces, and green roofs. Discusses the potential comparative importance of one component to another. Mentions rainwater harvesting, stating that "collecting water from drainage systems in catchment areas...serves to store water for attenuation as well as [provide] a valuable source of water for irrigation." (Thanks to DTRF) | "In de strijd tegen engerlingen is het van het grootste belang om op het juiste tijdstip een bestrijding uit te voeren. In principe is de bestrijding gericht tegen de engerlingen. Kevers en poppen zijn moeilijk of zelfs niet te bestrijden. In een sportveldzode kunnen tot zeven verschillende soorten engerlingen voorkomen. Meestal niet allemaal tegelijkertijd op één locatie, hoewel er ook voorbeelden zijn waar vijf verschillende soorten samen voorkomen. De keuze van het tijdstip voor bestrijding bij het voorkomen van slechts één soort is niet moeilijk af te lezen in bijgaande figuur, als het tenminste om een soort gaat met één generatie per jaar. Het wordt al wat moeilijker als de generatieduur twee jaar is en zich daarbij uitstrekt over drie opeenvolgende jaren. Het tijdstip waarop de verschillende stadia aanwezig zijn hangt vaak sterk af van de weersomstandigheden vlak voor en tijdens de vlucht van de kevers." |
