Abstract/Contents:Briefly discusses potential effects of the root-knot nematode on plants, stating that nematodes "grow well in warm soils which have good aeration and are irrigated. Such conditions occur in light sandy greens during late spring to early autumn." Focuses on the nematode Meloidogyne, reporting that "many greenkeepers have reported good recovery of unthrifty Cotula following the application of nematocides to control nematodes. This response could however be due to the control of nematodes other than Meloidogyne, or even the control of mealy bugs or Cotula weevils." Suggests that Cotula samples be taken throughout New Zealand to guard against invasions of the nematode.
