Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to determine the freezing temperature of the chinch bug (Blissus leucopterus Say). States that "in February and March 1935, 187 chinch burgs [bugs] were frozen in a chamber cooled by the evaporation of solid carbon dioxide (dry ice)." Details materials used during the experiment and concludes that "there is not a direct correlation between winter hardiness of the chinch bug and the amount of bound water present in its tissues." |
