Abstract/Contents:"One of the most important aspects of greens management is topdressing. Studies through the years have shown significant benefits from spring and fall dressing with a soil type mix. In recent years California studies have shown value using frequent, light topdressings with certain sands. Controversy has developed regarding this practice. Studies were initiated on three different bentgrasses at this station in 1976 in which both soil and sand are applied lightly every four weeks and compared to spring and fall topdressing applications. Fertilizer use rates will be varied according to response from topdressing treatments."
