| Abstract/Contents: | "There is an increasing demand for ornamentals that can perform well in shady areas of the landscape. Additionally there has been increased interest in growing grass species for ornamental purposes. Five species of perennial, ornamental grasses were studied to examine the effect of different levels of shade on plant growth, as measured by a variety of parameters including plant height and number of inflorescences. Several species showed no significant differences due to shade for at least some of the parameters measured. This support earlier studies that suggest some of the grass species tested are capable of performing well in sub-optimal environments." |
