Abstract/Contents: | Discusses ice melt products available for purchase that may not harm water quality. Explains that "ice melt compounds are usually some form of...chloride-based salts [such as] calcium chloride, magensium chloride, potassium chloride, or sodium chloride." Addresses the possibility of using calcium magnesium acetate (CMA) as an alternative as it has "one of the safest deicing products because it has very low corusive potential" but admits that CMA costs significantly more than rock salt products. |
