Abstract/Contents: | "Two pounds N/M were applied to plots on October 1 and 15, November 1 and 15. The combination treatment received 1 pound N/M on each date. All plots except the check received 1/2 pound N/M on June 1, July 10, and August 20. The highest level of cold resistance occurred near the end of January. Nitrogen fertilization through 11/1 resulted in reduced cold resistance in fall and early winter; applications after 11/1 reduced spring cold resistance. Color maintenance followed a similar pattern; applications through 11/1 resulted in enhanced color through fall and early winter and those made after 11/1 resulted in slightly earlier greenup. No clippings were produced on any of the plots, regardless of treatment, between the end of November and May." |
