Abstract/Contents:"One of the most desired and elusive items in turfgrass management is a safe, efficient, truly slow-release nitrogen fertilizer. What is desired is a fertilizer that might be supplied once a year that will release nutrients at a rate just sufficient to provide the color and growth demanded for health and aesthetics. Considerable progress has been made through the years in meeting this goal through the development of synthetic forms of nitrogen. In recent years station researchers have looked at many new products that sounded potential - resin coated or encapsulated fertilizers, urea-hydrocarbon complexes, U-F compounds and various natural organic materials. The ultimate has still not been found. A small scale trial is currently in progress to assess several materials. Included are IBDU (Isobutilidene diurea) urea-form and activated sludge."
