Abstract/Contents:"Cultivars were evaluated near Amherst, MA to dollar spot (Sclerotinia homoeocarpa) as part of the 2005 National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) Kentucky bluegrass test. The trial consisted of 110 commercially available and experimental cultivars seeded to 3 ft x 6 ft plots in Oct 05. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three replications. Plots were mowed at 1.25-in. height of cut. All plots received 2.5 lb nitrogen (N)/1000 sq ft (0.75 lb N in late May and early Sep, 1.0 lb N in late Nov), no irrigation or fungicides were applied during 2007 . Plots were rated for dollar spot. Identity of the disease was confirmed by the University of Massachusetts Turfgrass Disease Diagnosis Laboratory. Dollar spot disease was evaluated using a visual rating recorded on a 1 to 9 scale (9=no disease). Data was analyzed using ANOVA and means comparisons performed using Fisherfs Protected LSD. Significant differences among cultivars were detected for dollar spot. Four commercially available cultivars (Belissimo, Blueberry, Mystere, Nu Glade) and four experimental cultivars (A00-247, DLF 76-9075, DP 76-9081 and H98-701) provided excellent dollar spot resistance (no disease). Numerous commercially available and experimental entries exhibited good resistance to dollar spot disease (ā‰„7.67, statistically equivalent to cultivars that did not develop disease)."
