| Abstract/Contents: | "Plant growth regulators (PGRs) are currently applied in turfgrass management to reduce mowing frequency, suppress seedhead and favour overseeding transition. In particular, the gibberellic acid inhibitor (PGRs Type II) can be used also to enhance quality while suppressing growth (Mc Cullough et al., 2005). In this trial the effects of different PGRs Type II, trinexapacethyl (TE), paclobutrazol (PBZ) and chlormequat chloride (CCC), on 'Patriot' bermudagrass grown in the nursery were evaluated. Patriot bermudagrass is a warm season grass producing a dense dark-green turf with fine texture. It has been recently introduced in Italy because of its vigour and good cold hardiness that make it especially useful in climate transition zones. Patriot produces high quality turfs, suitable for most turf applications including golf course fairways and tee, home and commercial laws, parks and athletic fields (Taliaferro et al., 2006), and panels for green architecture." |
