Abstract/Contents:"Synthetic turfgrass is a textile product designed to simulate the appearance and usability of natural grass utilizing synthetic fiber blade. Previous researchers have noticed the high temperature increase during a hot summer day on synthetic turfgrass (Novak, 2005). McNitt and Petrunak (2006) measured air temperature (1 m height) and surface temperature for ten synthetic turfgrass products from 2003 to 2004. The temperature difference ranged from 19 to 41oC among different synthetic turfgrass products. Fresenburg and Adamson (2005) reported that, based on their temperature data, players should not play in the afternoon during the summer. The objectives of this study were to compare temperature changes for four synthetic turfgrass products, by GeneralSports Venue (Astroturfusa, 2006), with a natural turfgrass surface and to predict the surface temperature changes on the synthetic turfgrass surface using soil temperature and incoming solar radiation."
