Abstract/Contents:Briefly presents a study on "the dynamics of nitrogen mineralization after clipping addition to [a growing site]." Includes the materials and methods used during the study, indicating that clippings, collected in litter bags were measured for changes in weight and nitrogen level. Reports that "in the beginning of [the] decomposition process, more N [nitrogen] was released from the clippings with higher initial N...[but] in the later phases of decomposition the release of N is influenced by the N content in the cell-wall constituents." Concludes that "N fertilization rates should be reduced when clippings are returned to turfgrass managed as residential lawn."
