Abstract/Contents: | Presents a report on studies conducted by Vista Grass Research at the Land O' Lakes Answer Farm in Webster City, Iowa on ten grass species. Briefly mentions the methods used in the studies, stating that near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy analysis, genetic incorporation, demonstration plots, and "a unique nursery planting arrangement [containing] a drilled row of a top cross male parent, a row of spaced nursery plants, and a row of alfalfa in continuing sequence" were utilized to evaluate and analyze species accessions. Reports that "incorporation of the brown midrib trait into both parents shows continued promises of substantially increasing IVDMD [in vitro dry-matter digestibility], especially in sudangrass." |
