Abstract/Contents:Briefly details a study conducted by the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station in Dallas, Texas to evaluate the quality and forage potential of tall fescue, Texas bluegrass, and indiangrass. Reports the materials and methods used in the study, stating that field observations, test grazing, and seed yield assessments was used to determine turf quality and forage yield. Reports progress in increasing drought tolerance and stem rust resistance in tall fescue synthetics, "adequate forage production" and high rhizome development in Texas bluegrass, and "superior forage and seed yield" in indiangrass selections. Concludes that advanced testing is projected for tall fescue and Texas bluegrass, and that new accessions of indiangrass are "anticipated [to] add genetic diversity to this program."
