| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study on "reproductive control in insects" when triphenyltin moiety is applied. Details the methods and materials employed, indicating that "topical applications [were used] to test 3 candidate chemosterilant triphenyltin compounds against the Japanese beetle" and adding that acetone dosage was applied on the Japanese Beetle. Reports that the low doses did not significantly affect the sterility but "a progressive decline in mean longevity of both sexes is apparent" at high doses. Concludes that the "inherent toxicity alone seems to render all 3 candidate chemosterilants unacceptable as topically applied sterilants of the Japanese beetle." |
